Recreate Your Childhood With Star Trek: Nanoforces Army Men

Those of us of a certain generation may have fond memories of playing with little green plastic army men on our grandmother’s carpet when we were little cadets.  I always imagined mine was some sort of space marines on an alien planet fighting an invisible threat (the colour of my grandma’s carpet certainly helped), and I’m sure I’m not the only kid who did that.  Well now, kids and kids-at-heart can have their own adventures in the Final Frontier with Fourth Castle and EMCE Toys’ new Star Trek Nanoforce!

Imagine those little green army men from childhood, but they’re in the shapes of the famed crews of the Starships Enterprise and moulded-in proper division colours.  That’s Star Trek Nanoforce in a nutshell, but there’s so much more to enjoy!

EMCE Toys and Fourth Castle, in collaboration with license holder Fanwraps, are releasing two distinct sets of plastic, unpainted, and unarticulated figures, one each from Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation.  These sets include the legendary crews of their respective Enterprise, along with a group of enemies and allies, in addition to scale models of the ships themselves and a placemat.

The TOS set includes 2-inch, highly detailed figures of Kirk, Spock, Dr. McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, and Uhura (I know, no Chekov; must be a season one set!) as well as a Klingon, Romulan, Andorian, Gorn, Talosian, and even a Salt Vampire!  A 4-inch model of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 on a delta shield base is also included, and it’s moulded in grey plastic which would be very easy to paint and detail should anyone choose to do so.  The placemat is styled as blueprints of the venerable Constitution-class starship and makes for a lovely base on which to display these figures.

The TNG set has figures of Picard, Riker, Data, LaForge, Dr. Crusher, Troi, and Worf along with a Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, Borg, and the omnipotent Q!  There’s also a model of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, also moulded in grey plastic on a delta stand, and a placemat with Galaxy-class blueprints.

The figures are sculpted in digital 3D, resulting in exceptional high-resolution detail.  Every line, stud, and a strand of hair is exquisitely rendered, making these figures ideal for gaming sessions as well as display.  The TOS figures are moulded in Starfleet mustard, blue, and red, while the TNG figures will be in Starfleet maroon, blue, and gold.  Both ship models are battleship grey, again making future painting easier.  The blueprints used on the TOS placemat come from Franz Joseph’s renowned drawings from 1975.

Fourth Castle has 3D sculpt files on their Instagram @fourthcastle.

Fanwraps has behind-the-scenes and beauty shots of the figures on their Instagram @fanwraps.

Nanoforce will be a Previews Exclusive which will be available only from your local comic/toy/speciality shop via Diamond Comic Distributors and PREVIEWSworld Pullbox just head to www.previewsworld.com/pullbox

This project has been in development since the mid-2000s when Fourth Castle was initially approached by Diamond Select Toys for development, but due to the pandemic and supply chain issues the original release date of November had slipped and is now slated to be released in the very near future…
