Discovery comes to STO in “Age of Discovery”

For the very first time in its 8-year history, Star Trek: Online is about to cross paths with a live-action TV series.

Coming this fall to STO is going to take you into the world of the new smash-hit TV series, Star Trek: Discovery, the new expansion will be updated in line with the current show.

In the new expansion, “Age of Discovery” you will not only meet familiar faces, but you will also get to explore the inside of Discovery’s sister ship the U.S.S. Glenn.

“Age of Discovery opens in the year 2256, just after the Battle at the Binary Stars. In the wake of a brutal war against the Klingons, Starfleet Captains must face J’Ula, matriarch of the House of Mo’Kai and sister of T’Kuvma, who seeks to alter the destiny of the Alpha Quadrant. Players will need to rely on the help of fellow Starfleet Academy Cadet Sylvia Tilly (played by Discovery actress Mary Wiseman), who has come home to assist with training and see them off on their first assignment. From there, they will journey to iconic locations from Star Trek: Discovery, like the Dilithium Mines of Corvan II, explore the new experimental Crossfield class Starship, the U.S.S. Glenn, and defend Starbase 1 from a fearsome attack by the Klingon House of D’Ghor.”

The first installment from Age of Discovery will introduce a reimagined starting experience that allows players to create a Federation character from the Discovery era. The update also includes two new episodes for Starfleet Academy cadets, a new Task Force Operation to defend Starbase 1, and new reputations that expand the game’s Reputation System to Tier 6 and unlock powerful new rewards. Additional details will be announced when Age of Discovery launches later this year.

As expected the information released prior to STLV was lean in the way of what to expect, but during the STO panel, Al Rivera aka @CaptainGeko and team dropped a few more hints about what to expect, along with showing us some in-game screenshots and images from the upcoming content.

So what can we expect to see in STO?

One of the missions we will get will be set on Pahvo, this story was planned by Kirsten Beyer for the show, but they were not able to find a place for it, so this story was given to the team at STO to use in the game. Along with new missions and increased reputation to tier 6,

(CBS/PWE) Discovery Era Andorian

We will also get to see an updated Andorian model,

(CBS/PWE) Discovery’s Ripper

We will meet “Ripper” the Tardigrade,

We will get the Discovery Klingon Bird Of Prey,

(CBS/PWE) DSC Era Klingon – J’ula, Sister of T’kuvma

And a new big bad, from the comics, J’ula!, the sister of T’Kuvma and Matriarch of “House Mokai

BUT the news didn’t end there, along with this expansion dropping in the fall, the content will continue all the way through until the 9th year anniversary and beyond.

And during the 9th year anniversary, we will get to meet this fine lady again…

(CBS) Cpt Silva Tilly aka Cpt ‘Killy’ (Mary Wiseman) Will make a return

Yep, that’s right during the panel Al dropped this sneak peek

“We got to see Tilly’s idea of Captain Killy, but I’d like to know more about this woman…who has done all these terrible things.”

“The I.S.S. Discovery and Discovery swapped places. I can confirm, that will return as Captain Killy for our anniversary.”

Oh and last but least,

(CBS) Commander Ellen Landry (Rekha Sharma)

We will meet Commander Landry again, the gorgeous Rekha Sharma will reprise her role in the game as we explore her backstory into why Landry was one of the “hardest” Starfleet officers we have seen.

Age of Discovery launches in the fall, although no date is set yet, make sure you keep checking the site for updates on what is sure to be an excellent expansion.
