Discovery S3 – EP4 – Discovery Visits Trill – Forget Me Not – Photos, Synopsis & More

Last week we saw Discovery get her new captain with Saru taking the captain chair, the crew finding out that Earth is no longer a member of the Federation and Adria (Blu del Barrio) joining them on their search for the Federation.

This week the ship heads to a familiar Alpha Quadrant planet to continue their new mission to find what is left of the once great United Federation of Planets.

In episode 3 “People of Earth” we found out that Adria, although human was in fact joined to a Trill, with this knowledge the crew of the Discovery travel to the Trill homeworld in the hopes that they can find help in unlocking the memories held within the symbiont and finding out if there is anything left of Starfleet.

The Trill made their first appearance in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “The Host” but it was not until Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in which we were introduced to Jadzia Dax as a joined Trill who made the species more well known and allowed us to find out more about them. While members of the Trill species have been seen in Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, and Star Trek: Lower Decks the Trill homeworld hasn’t been visited since the DS9 episode “Equilibrium”. In this episode Jadzia returned to her homeworld in search of help after she became ill due to her symbiont holding a dark secret, that dark secret was in fact that the Dax symbiont had once been joined to the murderer Joran Dax. to enable Jadzia to come to terms with this knowledge and regain her health she had to visit the sacred Caves of Mak’ala, where unjoined Trill symbionts live until a fitting host can be found and then joined, the caves are also the place where Jadzia integrated the repressed memories of Joran into her consciousness allowing her to once again become whole.

Synopsis:

Burnham and Adira visit the Trill homeworld in hopes of unlocking the secrets trapped within Adira’s mind. Back on the U.S.S. Discovery, Saru’s efforts to help the crew reconnect with one another take a surprising turn.

“Forget Me Not” is directed by Hanelle M. Culpepper. and Written by Alan McElroy & Chris Silvestri & Anthony Maranville.
