Heather Kadin Exits Secret Hideout, Replacement Appointed

After an extraordinary 12 years working with Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin has announced her departure from the production company Secret Hideout.

Although overseen by Kurtzman, Kadin has played an integral part in bringing Star Trek back to TV, since 2017 she has helped shape the Star Trek Universe as we know it, she has served as an executive producer on Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard starring Patrick Stewart, Star Trek: Short Treks; the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, the recently launched Star Trek: Prodigy and the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Addressing her departure, Kadin was keen to praise Kurtzman and her team on what they have produced

“I’m incredibly proud of what our team, Alex and I were able to build at Secret Hideout and at K/O Paper Products,” “Over the past 12 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the best writers, actors and directors in television and I‘m excited to build on that in this next chapter of my career.”

Even though her exit is still being finalized, and it is unclear yet whether Kadin would continue as an executive producer on Secret Hideout’s projects in development or she will step down from those as well.

It is rumoured that CBS offered Kadin CBS Studios offered Kadin a producing deal but, after eight and a half years at CBS/ViacomCBS, she opted to leave to pursue other opportunities and go explore what is out there in terms of opportunities.

On her departure Alex Kurtzman said:

“Heather and I have spent 12 extraordinary years together, and in that time she’s been a brilliant creative force whose passion and dedication have been felt by the many writers and directors we work with at Secret Hideout,”

He went on to add:

“I’m certain she’ll carry that passion into the next phase of her amazing career, I’m so grateful for the time we’ve shared, and I wish her every success and happiness on her bright road ahead.”

Kadin began her television career in 2000 at ABC, where she worked closely with J.J. Abrams, Kurtzman and Orci on Alias.

With Kadin’s departure, it was not long before her replacement was announced.

Aaron Baiers was announced the new! President of TV at Secret Hideout. before his new role, Baiers was most recently Secret Hideout’s senior vice president of television, in his new role which is a natural step up, he will be responsible for overseeing, developing and producing content across all platforms for linear, premium cable, and streaming platforms on behalf of the company.

Speaking about his new appointment, Baiers said:

I couldn’t be more excited to start this next chapter with Alex, and I’m beyond grateful for his enduring support and leadership over the years,”

He is no stranger to the role Kadin had as he has been working closely with her for some time…

“I’ve been so fortunate to have worked closely with Heather during her tenure as president of the company, and I’ll be forever grateful for everything she’s taught me. My deepest thanks to David Stapf and all our amazing partners at the studio and networks for their guidance and advocacy during this transition.

Secret Hideout has been my home for a decade, and I’m thrilled to continue working with this talented team.”

Recently Secret Hideout set up a six-year extension of the company’s existing overall deal at CBS Studios back in August. Along with the ever-growing Star Trek Universe, Baiers is an executive producer on the new “Strange New Worlds” starring Anson Mount as well as the outstanding “Star Trek: Lower Decks,” “Star Trek: Picard,” “Star Trek: Discovery,” and “Star Trek: Prodigy.”

Baiers formerly worked with Kurtzman and Kadin at their former company, K/O Paper Products. He was also a drama development executive at 20th Century Fox Television (now 20th Television) earlier in his career.
