Please State The Nature Of The Toy Related Emergency…

Look, I’m big enough and old enough to call them toys, they are lil things that look cute and I adore them. They’re toys. I need them… ALL OF THEM!..

Warp Me!

Okay, so now that’s out of the way, let me hit you with my Christmas list- I mean, with the latest upcoming toys from the world of Star Trek!

Lower Decks might have wrapped up series 2, but the show ain’t over just yet. We’ve got ship models!

First, we have the wonderfully designed USS Cerritos. I’ll admit, the Cali class took a while to grow on me. The workhorse’s workhorse of the Federation, old and clanky, this ship just has all the charm. And now EagleMoss have given us a perfect little replica.

Coming to us January 2021, and now available on pre-order here, this will be the first of the XL-size starship in the series, the USS Cerritos NCC-75567. It’s a gorgeous hand-painted model at around 25 cm in length, it’s the perfect collection for any Admiral’s fleet.

Pocket Your Own Picardo With The New EMH Mark 1 Figure From EXO6.
Star Trek: Voyager EXo EMH Model
“Please State The Nature Of The Medical Emergency”

Okay, you probably don’t want to put this in your pocket, I just wanted to say, “Pocket your own Picardo”, it’s fun to say, try it. (All done? Okay-).

You’ve probably seen my last review of EXO6’s Picard figure, well, now we’ve got the EMH Mark 1 to join in the collection! This lovingly crafted sculpture of The Doctor features:

  • Fully Articulated Body: More than 30 points of articulation allow the figure to be displayed in multiple dynamic poses, approximately 30 cm tall.
  • Realistic Portrait: The Doctor’s portrait is lovingly rendered by top artists, with an excellent likeness of Robert Picardo. Each head sculpt is specially hand-painted.
  • Starfleet Duty Uniform Jumpsuit: Meticulously researched, this duty uniform matches the pattern, and color of the original costume recreated in 1:6 scale. Magnets are sewn into the uniform so the holster for the tricorder can be attached. An authentically scaled communicator badge and the mobile emitter are permanently affixed to the tunic.
  • Boots: Soft plastic boots sculpted to match the cut and style of the original series footwear.
  • Hands: A total of seven interchangeable hands are included so he can be displayed holding the tricorder, the medical scanner or the PADD.
  • Display Base: A hexagonal display base featuring the transporter pad will provide additional support for the figure. Two different inserts for the floor of the base can represent the transporter pad or the center of the transporter array.
  • Autograph card: An informational LCARS card that can be used to get an autograph from the performer and displayed with your figure.
Star Trek: Voyager EMH Exo Model
“I’m a Doctor, not a battery.”

I will say, the more slim detailed design of the Voyager uniform scales to 1:6 size very nicely, and actually looks even better than the Picard model. Quite a sight to behold. I also love the detailing on the Mobile Emitter, they could have simply made a simple flat block of plastic with printed details, but it seems judging by the images that the emitter is actually way more detailed with the vents and cutouts as seen in the show.

The functionality and interchangeable nature of the props is just a work of art, the vial comes out of the hypospray, the tricorder has a holster, all of these could have been solid elements and they would still have been awesome, but adding in these extra details just makes it even more awesome.

Much like the Picard figure, however, these figures come with a heavy price tag. Prices including shipping come to $200, or £148. These are, of course, figures for the die-hard collectors, so they are certainly an investment to go with the rest of your crew. But how can you say no to his lil guy? They will look good in any display case on their own or alongside their fellow Starfleet Alumni.

You can pre-order your own EMH Mark 1 figurine from EXO6 + here!

Lush Plush!
Kidrobot Star Trek Plush Toys
Are we looking at the adorable Gorn?

Okay, I don’t have a pun or anything for these ones, but I need you all to look at how adorable the Gorn is. Are we looking at the adorable Gorn?

Kidrobot is now doing a range of 3 Star Trek Characters as part of their Phunny Plush range. Kirk, Spock and the very adorable squishy Gorn are all now 8 inch tall little plushies. I am a little confused as to the range, is this a rights issue or just trying the waters? Why no Kirk? Where is Kirk? I wanted to recreate the cosiest version of “Arena”. Never mind, we can hope the rest of the various Enterprise crews will be coming later next year.  (Can you imagine plushie Riker beard? So…so soft.)

Expected in quarter 2 of 2022, you can now pre-order these little fellas.

Star Trek Tri-Chess

Star Trek is nerdier, Tri-Chess is Nerdier

Chess is nerd, Star Trek is nerdier, Tri-Chess is Nerdier, Tri-chess with Star Trek figures just broke the Goofy Nerd setting on my tricorder but I need this in my life so bad.

This pack is a pretty neat deal, based on the original Tri-Chess as seen in TOS, this set is an interesting deal. All as part of a larger subscription, you collect all the figures and segments of the chess boards over the subscription, assembling it as you go. The board itself is shipped in 5 segments while the figures come two at a time each month.

Each figure does certainly look the part, clearly, a great deal of effort and work has gone into these, and the clever chaps at Eaglemoss are showing no sign of slowing down with their painting skills.

Star Trek Chess Set eaglemoss.com
I don’t remember this from Queen’s Gambit…

Looking at it all though, it seems on the surface to be a pretty good deal, if you don’t mind waiting for all the parts to come together. Subscribers will receive the tri chessboard for free, (typically worth a whopping $300 dollars), while the first Picard figure starts at $4.95, with free shipping, that said, after the first figure, the prices do go up to $16.95 for two figures (including free tri chessboard parts) plus $2.45 shipping. Which is a bit of a price jump. When you realise it is $16.95 for 48 payments for each figure does get steep after a while, bringing everything to a staggering total of $540 (and that’s not including total shipping).

Myself, that’s a bit much when you consider that you’re paying that in total over the course of several months, for bits of something you have to assemble to eventually play when it arrives.

Personally, I’m not a fan of these delivery methods, if the set was sold as one, I’d be more inclined, but this isn’t exactly a deal of the century. For those with deep pockets and latinum to spare, you can order your set today from Hero Collector.

Getting Kitted Out For The Away Mission.
TOS Tricorder Wand Company
Scanning….

Returning now to the wild wild worlds of The Wand Company. Followers will have noted my previous look at the stunning work into recreating the TOS Tricorder for commercial release. Well, now we are going to get a return of a classic, the Bluetooth communicator.

Many moons ago, the Wand Company did produce a run of Bluetooth compatible communicators for use with phones. After the run, however, a lot of these could only be found on sites like eBay, for massively inflated prices. But now, for the 55th anniversary, we are seeing a re-release! Which makes me a very happy collector.

Aside from the box, the product is still functionally the same as its predecessor from Yesteryear. Which is nice to see, it comes with all the previous bells and whistles, or if you prefer, chirps and sound clips. To be more accurate, it’s 17 new authentic voice clips and 3 Original Series Communicator sound FX, with die-cast zinc, CNC machined aluminium, iridescent coated jewels and a built-in lithium polymer battery and it features wireless charging so as not to spoil the smooth 24th-century design aesthetic with nasty charging sockets.

Prices start at $264.13 / £195 and you can pre-order yours from The Trek Shop!

But we’re not done with replicas just yet, we have here a first look at the “First Shot” of the Wand Company’s tricorder replica!

Wand company TOS Tricorder
“It’s Life Jim”

Isn’t that pretty? This model is the near-final complete version, with a few minor tweaks to come, we are seeing more and more of the features unfold before us and I am getting so hyped for this.

The screen offers full functionality, with each button being able to be used as a means of control, and all of the data disks have a function! Easily removable and reinserted, they actually have a function. They’re not just a cute accessory.

This level of detail is insanely cool. They didn’t need to go this hard, but they did and I love them for it. Aside from detecting inverse tetryon particles, this thing does damn near everything else!

Each disk is colour coded, with a handy little note on each one to let you know its function.

Actual logs from each episode, the ability to record your own logs? Archive images? (Which are recreations of Edith Keelier’s newspaper clippings from City on the Edge of Forever). This is probably the trek product I am most excited about. Each time I get an update about this thing, my mind gets blown a little more with the love and care that has gone into making it possibly the best Trek prop replica ever made.

Normally a prop replica has a nice little, “light up and do a thing” feature, or normally novelty tv remotes have been, “point at screen and fiddle with it while you try to change the settings in growing frustration” (looking at your tv remote sonic screwdrivers). But this is such a brilliant idea. Being able to have such control and so many features that don’t just make it a cute toy, but a real love letter to the prop building of the past. I can only hope that once they have finished the TOS model, we may get to see the TNG era tricorders as well!

So that’s my Christmas list, I mean, roundup for November, it’s looking pretty fantastic.

What are you keeping your eye on? Let us know in the comments section below! And as always Trekkies. LLAP!
