First announced at the Game Awards last year Star Trek: Resurgence is an interactive third-person narrative video game being developed by Dramatic Labs, a brand-new studio composed of former Telltale Games developers, working in collaboration with ViacomCBS Consumer Products.

Resurgence is set shortly after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation where you the player are stationed aboard the U.S.S. RESOLUTE (a Centaur Class starship) players will assume the role of two principal characters, First Officer Jara Rydek and Engineering Crewperson Carter Diaz, as they unravel a sinister mystery involving two alien civilizations on the brink of war.

Throughout the game, players will immerse themselves in the Star Trek Universe, interacting with new and returning characters through a variety of dialogue and action gameplay to determine the course of the story.

Over the last couple of days, IGN has been releasing more info about the game including videos of gameplay and character bios and below you can meet the crew, and watch over 10 minutes of gameplay footage.

Meet The Crew

The crew of the USS Resolute are a battle-tested and hardened crew, and thanks to IGN we have a few character bios…

(Dramatic Labs) Ambassador Spock

Ambassador Spock

Ambassador Spock is one of the most distinguished and respected figures in the United Federation of Planets, going back to his well-known exploits with Captain Kirk and the USS Enterprise. In recent years, he’s sought to reunite the Romulan Empire and his home planet of Vulcan, but when the Federation needs his help in securing a different peace, he answers the call. After all, the pursuit of peace is eminently logical. -Dramatic Labs

Carter Diaz

A dreamer with a thirst for adventure, Carter Diaz decided to skip the Academy and enlist in Starfleet so he could get out and see the galaxy. He’s a gifted engineer, and while life on the lower decks keeps him far from the decisions on the bridge, he almost always finds himself close to the action.

(Dramatic Labs) Jara Rydek

Jara Rydek

She’s Starfleet’s finest: top of her class the Academy and battle-tested in the Dominion War. As a new arrival to the Resolute – and the job of First Officer – Jara will have to earn the trust of her crewmates. But she’s a half-Kobliad, and one of the last of her kind, so used to being an outsider and beating the odds.

(Dramatic Labs) Solano

Captain Solano

Having captained the ship through a disaster six months ago that forced the Resolute into extensive repairs, Solano comes to this mission with a lot to prove. He’s in the twilight of his career, but still has his ambitions, and he’s looking for a way to secure his place in the history books. And he’s counting on Jara to help him do it. -Dramatic Labsating the odds.

We have picked 4 out of the 9 that IGN released today, you can find the rest here. . .

Game Play

Although the scope of the game is not known and is unlikely to be as big, the gameplay seen thus far is very reminiscent of Bioware’s Mass Effect. You can see just how good this game looks with not one but two videos demonstrating what we can expect.

In the first clip, we see the return of Spock who gives your character a debriefing ahead of a key mission, in the second clip we get to see Carter Diaz explore the ship before getting his assignment.
